Thumbs down CANON camera Power Shot Software

Hi, I have upgraded to Windows 7 32bit from XP and I downloaded the software for my camera which is A570 IS Digital. It no longer gave me EOS Utility which is on the disc also the software is not compatible with Windows 7. I have been to the update from the Canon website which I have found confusing. Canon support has told me I do not need the EOS with my camera so I am even more confused (Why then was it on the software disc I received with the camera and downloaded to Windows XP) Can someone help with this please Thanks Jasmina.

Hello Jasmina, you shouldn't need drivers to use the camera. If you plug it in and turn it to review mode, it should show up in Computer. I have no issues with my Canon Powershot A620 and I've never had to install any of their software/drivers, even on XP.

The only software you need is xnview
http://www.xnview.com/en/downloadwin32.html
and for some extra features, a better gui, raw file support, & much more with no permanent changes to the camara at all, try the latest custom firmware from
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK
It's super easy using a regular sd card. Once the firmware loads set it as boot in options and then lock the card to enable booting to the custom firmware next time camera starts.

Welcome to the forums.

A570 IS Digital uses an SD card. The easiest and quickest way to transfer pictures to your computer is to get a USB SD card reader, something like this:

Unless you want to use specific software, in which case post what it is and we can get you a link for an update.
