Hello everybody,

I am Trevormacro. I am new.

I have 3dfx prototype card : Voodoo 5 6000 3700 A / Hyundai 6ns / Hank's Rework.

It's a very rare 3dfx prototype card. Under 100 cards in the world.

I change all 16 Hyundai 6ns sdram by 3.5ns 128bit 86pin sdram.

Here is my New World Project named 3dfx Voodoo 5 6000 Gold Second Edition @200 MHz

It's a Full working card.

This Voodoo5 6000 Gold SE is a formula one!

201 MHz passed in 3DMark2001Se

ps. Anyway, I am very happy to see runing my card over 200MHz for benchmarking! It is amazing!

The card runs so well to 200MHz, but for runing over 200MHz, it depends from heat room.

Card worked during some minutes to 203MHz in 3DMark2001se.

When i remember right: wasn't it the primary goal of 3dfx to run the V56k at 183mhz? So now 3dfx got it and much more ...

Your impressions, reactions ?

Best Regards,

Trevormacro

Very Cool !! I love it. I was a big 3dfx fan boy back in the day 98-99 era. I had many of there cards. they used to be the shiznit playing Unreal engine games. It was at this time that I worked for a custom computer company down in FL and learned how to build and repair these boxes we love so much. I wish I could still do that for a living.

I also thought AGP would always be around. :D

Excellent little project and it has stirred many old memory's. Thank you !

Nice Trevor! I'd keep that thing forever. I love old gear. Oldest things I have are a Matrox Millenium G200 and a GeForce 2 Ultra, both from the late '90s. They just sit in the closet but someday I'll pull them out for the grandkids. And they'll just look at me funny...

Hey funny you should mention the G2 Ultra, I have a Hercules Geforce 2 Ultra 64 meg card somewhere in my stuff. Thing is I robbed the little fan on it for a mobo chipset who's fan had gone out some time ago. SO I would have to get a little fan for it and it would be fine. I was in a pinch at the time. When I got the G2 Ultra was right after launch and I paid over 400 bucks for that card if I remember correctly. *Ouch :D

I also have an ATI Rage 128, A Geforce 4 Ti4600 and a Diamond Viper 32 meg as well. Several other cards lying about also :D

WOW I can remember doing
2x Diamond monster Voodoo 2 12meg cards in 3dfx SLI. Boy, did Quake 2 look amazing on 2x voodoo 2. I still say some older games look better running on 3dfx cards then nvidia or ati cards.

does that card really get that hot? those massive heatsinks and fans seem overkill

does that card really get that hot? those massive heatsinks and fans seem overkill

All Voodoo5 cards including Voodoo5 6000 get hot.
So these heatsinks are very good to dissipate the heat from 4 GPUs.
