N00b Help, Overclocking Intel Core 2 Duo e6300 and abit ip35-e mobo

Hi,
Im new at overclocking and this is my first post. Im wanting to over clock my cpu and ram if need be so i can play my game and just get more performance out of my machine. i really want to go as high as possible without burning anything ut or shortening the lifespan of too many parts for too long as i cant afford to replace ANY parts on my pc for a good long time.

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who could helo a first time undertsand how to over clock my pc with the following cpu and board.

INTEL CORE 2 DUO e6300 (conroe)
and
A-bit IP35-E Mothercoard

any help would be greatly appreciated as i am quite green at this.
thanks

There is a great guide in my signature (C2D/C2Q guide) that should gelp get you going. Check that out, it should be plenty to get you started at least.

As far as gaming performance, usually the biggest changes will come from a better videocard (depending on the resolution you play.. What res do you play games at?)

Please list your system specs including your exact ram model speed and timings, power supply, CPU cooler, etc.

Exclamation

My System Specs are as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo e6300 (conroe)
A-Bit IP35-E ocket 775 Mobo
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS
2x2GB Dual Channel (DDR2) OCZ Technology PC2 6400
CoolerMaster X Dream 4 Heatsink with Arctic silver 5 compound spread
(brand new cpu cooler^^^)

Coolermaster 550W Max power supply
Coller Master ATX Case

RAM is set to 400MHZ

I usually play games at 1024 x 763 for newer games but if i want to use less resources i set game at 800x600, no HD output on anything.

If i forgot anything please let me know ill be glad to post whatever. also if you need more screen shots or these dont work msg me. ill get them to you another way.

At that low of a resolution, the CPU plays a large role in gaming performance. Overclock the CPU, overclock the GPU and see if that satisfies you are my suggestions. If not, time to upgrade.

there in lies the problem, I am a first timer. I will post 3 images of my BIOS as they are currently set in hopes someone might know a good config i can use to get it overclocked as much as possible. I have not been able to find an accurate walkthrough with Phoenix Bios Yet.

Any more help would be appreciated. and thanks Earthdog for the info.

Read the C2D/C2Q guide (link in my sig). That should help out and get you going. Sadly, each CPU is different and cookie cutter settings may not work.

You will essentially need to change the FSB, and vcore, and some Vtt to push the CPU. There are more variables than that, but that is the basics (FSB x multiplier = CPU speed).
