Grado SR60i Modding

I bought a pair of Grado SR60i headphones a few weeks ago and couldn't decide if I liked them or not, they seemed great for an hour or so but then would become annoying.
I read at headfi about some mods you can do to deepen base and smooth out the sound on these things so gave them a try, I couldn't believe the transformation a few tweaks could do to the sound of these headphones.

Anyone have any experience with modifying these Grado headphones?

No experience, but I do know that replacing the stock pads with Sennheiser HD414 pads is a very common mod to improve comfort.

I personally prefer the grdo l-cush pads withe the electrical tape mod. If comfort can be an issue try bending the headband out just a bit to reduce the pinching on your head

Opening up the chambers and popping out the holes on the back of the driver like they do on the high end grado's really improved the low end and adding some dampening to the plastic sound chamber evened out the high end, smoothing out the sound.

They say whatever you like about the high end grado's you can mod onto your low end cans.

I'm now buying some wooden cups like the higher up Grado's have.
