I have a ? i noticed that on the power cable that plugs from the wall to the power supply, this lump, not sure what there even called , and was wondering what that is?

It's called a ferrite bead or ferrite choke, and it's purpose is to reduce EMI (electromagnetic interference) and RFI (radio-frequency interference).
 
the power supply i have that drives my video cards has them on the pci cables good to know what they are for :)
