Windows 2000 system time/date problem.

On this windows computer, which is connected to a network that has remote issued security policies, is under the impression that the date is 1607. This problem is making me unable to use the '&[date]' code to incert the correct date, which i am required to use in my comptuer class.

The system time on the desktop toolbar is also different than that of the system bios. I also do not have the permissions clearance to use the BIOS settings or edit the time in date in cmd DOS promt (with the 'time' and 'date' commands).
But i know for a fact that someone wtih the same permissions as me changed the system time. How can this be corrected?
Is there some kind of windows os key in the kernel or something that is modified to change the way the time is displayed?

The only thing that comes to mind is the possiblity that someone took permissions away from your particular user group, or from you personally. I'm not running W2K right now, but I believe Local Policies --> User Rights Assignment is in the same location as in XP... Start | Run | Type gpedit.msc, and click OK | Expand the following branch in the Group Policy Editor (assuming you have permission):

Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security Settings | Local Policies | User Rights Assignment

Look in the RH pane for the "Change the system time" policy, and modify this entry to take permissions away from, or give permissions to the User Group in question... individual users can be assigned here as well.

Arg. I don't have the permissions to access that.
Which also means the person who did it didn't either. Becuase more than likely it was a student too.

Couldn't you just say somthing to your instructor? Probably make life much easier.

She said the best she will do is tell the IT pro for our DISTRICT, but he takes over a month to get around to anything, let alone at my school.

In win2k you can manually update time with: cmd prompt
net time /setsntp:"server addy here" no quotes
you will have to restart service to see updated time
