I am thinking about two setups.

My build will be a i7 920 with 6gb ram on a Asus P6T motherboard

I am either going to go with this single drive

or these in raid 0

Obviosly from a pure size standpoint the second setup wins....I don't necessarily need the space. Which would be faster?

I will have Windows Vista 64 bit and mostly gaming software.

i heard the raptor has better seek time so when boot up window or loading game its shorter compare to wd640 raid. for large transfer, wd640 seem better.

I use a raptor for OS and programs and the WD640 for media. Thats my preferred combination.

Raptor = wins on seek times / smaller files (openning applications, booting windows)
Raid 0 = wins on long / large file transfers / opening due to raw speed factor.

I was actually just doing research on this board and your post is exactly what I am thinking about. Because the P6T has a SAS controller, I'm thinking about opting for two SAS drives instead of raptors.

Decided to go with the velociraptor and next month buying another one and reinstall in raid 0
