AMD Ryzen 5 1400X for $199 is ok since it compares in performance to i5 7600k.
Link to the performance benchmarks you're citing?
dumb question...will there be any difference in heatsink mounting?
Yes, the AM4 has a different mounting requirement than the AM3/AM3+ socket.
I still have AM3+ EK water block which after little mods should fit fine on AM4 Was good for FX8120/8320 so for anything new will be good too
EK send the AM4 mounting kit as a free upgrade for existing customers I believe. Have to find the link somewhere, lol!
Quote from the article "The chip was operating at a voltage of 0.374V under nominal loads. The low voltage is due to a bug in CPU-z which doesn’t workIdle: 0.374v (CRAZYYYY)
I am seriously contemplating returning to AMD if the $250 CPU performs better than Intel's current offerings and is significantly better than my current Haswell rig. I only hope the ROG equivalent 370 platform is not expensive as Intel's top shelf chipset offerings.
Here's a Ryzen 5 1600x 6 core benchmarks leak for your perusal. Looks like a price/performance winner to me.
Agreed but I wouldn't call the results crushing, not taking price into the factor. That said if these chips are as good as all the hype it's exciting news to me. I can't wait to get my hands on one or two.But still the R5 1600X is a $260 6C/12T CPU pretty much equaling an $1,100 8T/16C CPU. So that is pretty amazing to me at least. Of course, that's whenever AMD decides to actually release it.
