Gigabyte X58A-UD7

Just got my hands on the new top end X58 board from Gigabyte, the X58A-UD7.

Been looking forward to this, really want to do some testing with a SATA3 6Gb HDD.

I'm going to be away for best part of two weeks, so most of the testing is just going to have to wait till I'm back. But what I can say for sure is, like their previoue X58 range, it's a dream to overclock, just soo simple.

Though there is a bug in the bios thats reading my cpu wrong. I'm using a W3570, yet it says it's a W3565 and will not give me a multi over 23 (even a W3565 has a 24) I see TURN & BURN had the same kind of issue with the F2 bios, I'll need to try the beta and see if it helps me.


But for now, lets have a look at the board.

What I really want to look into, SATA2 and SATA3 6Gb ports.

GSATA3_6 and GSATA3_7 (the first 2 white ports after the blue ones) are the connectors using the Marvell 9128 chip, to give the board SATA 6Gb/s.

whoa the uh... hs next the cpu is tat water cooled like the ones on the Assuie extremes?

Yes, it's a water block. But on the Giga board it's more like a heatsink with fins and the water block is on top of that.

Nice goodies man, look forward to the sata 3 + cuda results.

I saw this the other day. Looks very similar to their now discontinued EX58-Extreme with a few minor differences.

Yes, it the successor to that board.
Some minor, and some other bigger differences ie USB/SATA 3 etc

Happy New Year Deanzo , Santa bought me one as well :lol:
Only issue i've had so far is getting my ripjaw up to speed, may not be a board issue though, just finding right vtt. Have been using same ram in P55 where 8gb has run great, but needs a bit of tweaking on X58.

loved my Ex58 while she was kicking...this is one to keep on eye I thinks!!

I'm still hoping one will land on my door step soon. They look good for Gulftown. I probably wouldn't mind playing with the P55-UD7 (NF200) for some tri-fire/3-way SLI, but the 3rd stick from my DomGT kit is starting to feel lonely and the proc I finally want to start wringing out is not 1156 Not to mention 4x4850s or GTX260s would be MORE fun

"UD7" has simply replaced "Extreme" for the Gigabyte top-o-the-line boards.

That is a sexy board! Trying to decide on this or 1156 with one of the 32nm CPUs.

Well obviously p55 is cheaper.
You'll probably get higher and easier ram clocks, but for CPU overclocking this just blows 1156 away. Am just testing 4.2ghz all i did was up the vcore a notch or 2. On p55 twaek clock skew Pll etc., to get 4.2ghz then not stable.

I know, I really want the Gbyte board. I think I will get it with the 920(that was the plan until the i3 32nm came out). OC the 920 and have fun until the hexa comes out. I have seen some pics of it online, but the ones you and deanzo posted give a better view. I just hate that I have to order stuff. I need to find a local shop, I like to see what I am buying right away. After the reviews and seeing the pics, I know I want it.

Maybe I should OC my 6750 to no boot and and tell the wife the board and CPU died.

I'm not that bad. I say I won't tell her, but she knows. Being married this long, she always knows. We both have our hobbies, and since the move I am no longer purchasing guns, my Jeep was sold, and I don't have any casinos close by, so I have more money to buy comp parts. I told her I want to get this board with the 920 but then sell it to get a hexacore later. She doesn't think I can sell the 920 so she is afraid I am out the money. Doesn't help that I have almost all my old computers in the basement of her parents house.

might as well sell it all while you can .. or donate it .. nice to keep systems down to a minimum .. one or two right beside you to mess with and the rest is just ammo

I got my ram running at it's stock speed 2,000mhz but it needed an extra 0.3vtt from 1.28v to 1.58v to be stable:

From what I've seen, this is truly a great board. Another fantastic offering from Gigabyte.
