whats the best dual 120mm rad out there?

im buying parts for my first custom water cooling set up. one thing im stuck on is the radiator. i only have about 1 inch and 9mm of clearance in compartment made to put a rad in unless i leave the cover off. i cant really get a honest review off over frozen cpu or xoxzide so i figured you guys would have the solution for me. im just looking to cool the cpu for now. cause i dont have a good gpu (nvidia 9500gt)

also can you put a rad sidways instead of laying flat? cause i have 2 spots i could mount them. and im going for the best cooling i can get in it.

any recommendations would be awesome.

You should read the stickies. Nuff said. You seem to know nothing yet so please read the stickies like we have told the last 20 people in the last 30 days to learn.

We build great WC rigs here. But only you can build it. We don't have time to hold peeps hands for 100 posts of easily answerable questions, that's why we have a great 'YOU CAN READ YOURSELF AND LEARN' sticky collection.

All the retail sites have is retail garbage to pay for the marketers boat payment. Off to the stickies please.

The best? XSPC, Swiftech, Black Ice, and a few others. We mention Skinneelabs.com and Martinsliquidlab.org all the time here here. Guess you missed those since you joined OCF here.

A good link, maybe just for you. Just gonna take time to learn. It's a hobby, a hobby you try to do right, you don't go to the Dollar store and buy WC.

Here's a bit of a tip. I know Skinnee uses 360 rads in his reviews, but if you're looking to approximate the performance (heat dissipation) of a 240, you can just multiply his results by 2/3 (I believe).

To answer one of your questions in your OP, it's perfectly fine to lay a radiator any way you like so long as you properly bleed the loop. Integrated rad/pump combos are a different story as you have to position them in a way that the pump is always primed, but for radiators alone I've seen them mounted in almost every position.

And by no means are we discouraging you from asking questions. It's just that a question like "which is the best" is best determined by you after you've done some calculations and looked at the trusted reviews.

Ok thanks. I was thinking I'd rather mount it on the side panel of the case to prevent some possible kinking, but when I started to type out this post I realized how much of a pain in the butt it would be to have to unscrew the rad and fans from te case if I ever had to get inside the case. Which I would proboly do often cause I have a pretty good amount of upgrades. Maybe I'll just add a single 120mm to the side in the future

You can always mount a radiator off the back of your case using an external radiator mount, so long as you have holes to route the tubes through (or provided you can cut some).

http://koolance.com/radiator-mountin...-quick-release

Edit: Just looked at some pics of the NZXT Tempest 410 and there are indeed holes on the back for routing tubing.

The WATTAGE can be multiplied by 2/3, everything else will have to be recalculated using that wattage.

Sorry Mort (and OP), I stand corrected.

Mort, just to clarify, how would one calculate watts dissipated by a 240 rad using one of Skinnee's graphs on his roundup? The Watts Dissipated at 1.6GPM and 10C delta for example?

That chart will carry over directly (once you multiply by 2/3), you'd need to recalculate things like CW. Also, flow characteristics will be slightly different.

Ah alright. That makes sense. I guess I should have specified in my original post that I was referring to the above graph. Thanks for the clarification.
