I just got this second system to use as a web / ftp server (for free i may add, allways nice) its a older p166 system.

well i had to overclock it. i set the fsb to 75mhz and the multiplier to 3.5, and booted at 266... thats a better overclock then my newer p3 system... if only intel diddnt lock there cpu's.

I'm getting ready to build the same sort of system,
mine had a p233mmx @ 262 however. I had tried
to run it at 282 but it didn't like the 83mhz bus speed.
Anyway, I found a k6-2 500 processor for ~$25 on
the net and dropped it in there and got a pretty big
speed boost. The chip has a 6x multiplier so I can run
it at 83mhz x 6 or 500mhz but my scsi card eats the
drive at that bus speed so with scsi i'm at 6x75 - 450mhz.

Since it was free (always nice), why not buy a K6-2 533. Their cheaper then the 550 Mhz and at 100Mhz bus with a slight voltage increase run 566 Mhz. That's at the 5.5 multiplier. Maybe you can get the 6 multiplier to work. Even stock it twice as fast as what you all ready have. Their cheep enough like $25.
