I Need Help!

I have bought me a new computer, with a Hercules 9700 PRO
Card in and i´m using an Asus A7V8X moderboard!

Have a friend with an ATI 9700 PRO card and ABIT´s new moderboard!

We have the same Chipset, the VIA KT400

Both of us have the same problem! We can´t use AGP 3.0, so we can´t use AGP x8! Íf we use AGP 3.0 our graphic boards just shut´s down when we are using OpenGL! Atleast mostly when we are using OpenGL! #dMArk i can´t run at all!

And without AGP 3.0 my score is around 10000! and thats a bit to low i think!

Please Help us!

i very much doubt agpx8 would effect your score in a noticable way.
It could be many things that are effecting your machine.
start by listing ALL of your components

Didn't early 9700s have problems at 8x?? James it right though, it should not affect your score that much at all. Need to list your stuff so we can compare.

I agree I don't think 8X will move your score up much

Try bumping up the AGP voltage (bios) a little at a time.
worked for me on the test machine!

3Dmark scoring is kinda funny set your graphics to crap 640X480
all of your ATI settings to highest performance.
AND VOOOOOOOOM big 3dmark!

Dont worry about running ur card in 8x AGP, but if u want, check for a BIOS update, or try the new Hyperion drivers for VIA chipsets. VIA was stupid with their KT400 chipsets and put in the 8x AGP before Intel had finished designing it, thus the problems it has with VIA chipsets and 8x AGP
