Sadly the new generation of Intel's iCore processors are pretty lackluster, and perform about on par with last gen's tech. They also don't overclock as well.

no it is not
If you use all the cores it would be an upgrade, sure. Otherwise, clock for clock its around 5-10% faster depending on what tests you look at. It also gives you the ability to overclock a lot easier with its unlocked multiplier.
