Getting SL6Z3 over 3.5

IC7-G
Geil pc4000 ultra platnum
Zalmann 7000cu
P4 2.4c (sl6z3)

Out of the box the Processor posted easily to 3.5 (298 FSB) with ram settings of 3:2. I have heard of this processor going to 3.7 with the Zalmann fan that I have. It will not post with the mem set to 1:1 or 5:4 with the bus set at 298. I bumped the vdimm core to 2.8 and still no post at 5:4. I have not changed the mem timings at all.

Anyone have any ideas on what settings I should try. I have not much much exp with changing the ram settings.

Im very happy with it running at 3.5 but I expect more from this chip.

TIA

Nice OC.

What vcore are you running at and what is the FPO/Batch # of this proc?

bump up the vdimm as high as it goes and loosen the timings.

You mean you bumped your vdimm to 2.8 , watch out for raising your vcore over 1.675-1.7 or your CPU can be in danger of SNDS. The last 2 GAT settings that shortbus is talking about are in the Advanced Chipset Settings where you DISABLE the Last two GAT settings. They then will look like this: Auto, Auto, Auto, Disabled, Disabled. If you ask me, I would think it well whether i want to use a 5:4 or a 3:2. Using a 3:2 ratio and high fsb will not compensate for the high bandwidth the 5:4 ratio will give you. Try to find the spot that you are able to use 5:4 ratio. Do the math yourself to see at what speeds your memory is running at. 5:4= fsb divided by 1.25 3:2=fsb divided by 1.5

Hope that helps

My 2.4c on ABIT IC7 can go up to 290mhz w/o having memory errors at 5:4, anything above 290 gets some memory errors, even 291fsb does. So 2.4@3.49ghz with ocz 4200el at 5:4 (2.5-5-4-4) is the perfect spot for my cpu.

What exactly do you get out of 5:4 ratio. you say the formula is (fsb / 1.25) but, by doing this are you loosing any performance or something? Are latency times going down or something? How much more effective will I be at 290fsb at 5:4 using 3700ddr compared to 228fsb 1:1?

you wanna get the proc as hi as u can while running the memory as hi also. running your cpu at 290 fsb and runnin the ram at 5/4 (232) would kill a cpu runnin a 228 fsb1-1. cause the proc is runnin so much faster. now if u could find some ram that would run 290-295 1-1 with the proc that would be a different story. but that kinda ram is hard to find..
