Hey guys I've been reading the forums and I see you guys help each other a lot, so here goes:

I'm trying to get a laptop that can play World of Warcraft. I realize I won't be able to get one of those 3pound mobile guys, but I don't want an 8pound one either.

In general, any suggestions? My price range is around $1200-1700.

I have two that I'm looking at right now:

ABS Mayhem G4:

Toshiba Tecra M3:

As I have them configured, the ABS is one to two hundred dollars cheaper. A big problem for ABS for me, though, is that I've never heard of them.

More in general questions for a WOW laptop:
How important is a graphics card (Nvidia) vs the integrated graphics?
If I get a graphics card, how important is the 128 vs 64 meg dedicated ram?
How important is 1024 vs 512 meg ram?

Thanks a lot in advance for any help you can provide!

I would get a Dell Inspiron 9300 for that price range. With those 40% or $750 off coupons floating around, it's pretty easy to get it within your budget. The 9300 can be configured with a 6800go, which will destroy the 6600go in the ABS. As for the RAM, buy it with the defautl option (256mb) and then go on newegg and buy a 1gb stick for about $110. Dell charges about $500 for a 1gb stick, which is a ripoff.

My problem with the Dell is first off, it weighs a ****ton, and also, I hate Dell, they've given me a crappy laptop and a crappy pc, bah Dell.

After tons more research I think I've actually came up with a laptop I like. The ASUS Z71V. It seems perfect for me, and also in my price range. Right now I'm trying to find a reseller that doesn't suck (according to resellerratings.com). And comments to this stuff (z71v and/or a good reseller)?

If you are going to look at that particular model, I would suggest looking here at this one:

http://www.powernotebooks.com/configure.php?special=184

Thing to remember about these laptops is they are all built by the same ODMs, so you gotta look for the best price and best support for that particular model. While ABS does not have a bad reseller rating, you are not going to touch the lifetime reseller rating for powernotebooks.com.

Deathknight, you are awesome.

Tell me if there's anything wrong with this, but then I'm calling them up.

http://www.powernotebooks.com/configure.php?special=184

Changes to the base offer:
1 gig ram (1 DIMM)
built in intel wireless 2200b/g
3 year parts and labor warranty

total: $1480.05

I didn't include stuff like Office and even XP because I can get each of those for ten bucks at my computer store at school.

Also, on resellerratings.com, this place (powernotebooks) has incredilble reviews, not sketchy ones like other places I've checked.

If anyone wants to just tell me this is good, please do, and I'll call up these people and get my new comp!

Thanks again, Deathknight.

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if any of you knew how WOW would perform on a Dell Latitude. If I used the $750 or 40% off coupon it could be gotten pretty cheap. But I feel that with the integrated graphics, instead of an Nvidia or likewise graphics card, WOW will run abysmally. If not, this more lightweight laptop would be real nice to have. Any thoughts?
