Sorry if this is a silly question but dose dvi to hdmi give true HDMI picture sorry again

It gives the same resolution and color bit, yes.
It will not transfer audio.

ok thanks for the quick reply is there a cable then that would incorporate dvi with audio??

Just run an HDMI to DVI cable then use a 3.5mm to RCA audio cable, assuming your TV supports that configuration.

Are you just running to a TV? Or do you have an amplifier / AV receiver?

I would prefer Optical audio to 3.5mm, personally, if that's possible.

signle will be going to tv but i do have surround sound witch has optical im digital in and aux in

ok so iv been looking about and if im right in say if you connect the spdif to graphics card you can get sound through dvi to hdmi cable

no
DVI does not carry sound, and even if it did, the receiving DVI port does not accept sound.
You need to DVI to HDMI as video only and hook up the sound separately, minijack to stereo RCA or optical, etc
