This is the site I lurked, asked questions on, and read as much as I can to learn how to shop for and build my first PC from scratch. Wooooooo!

OG System from 2003 going by OCforums recommendations:

Epox 8rda+ Mobo
AMD Athlon 2500+ Barton (because it could OC easily to a 3000+)
Thermaltake SK7 paired with thermaltake Smartfan II 80mm
512mb DDR PC3200 in dual channel
Chieftec Full Tower case with side window (I modded it to add a side fan later on)
ATI Radeon 9500 pro
and blue LED case fans up the wazoo

The case is still being used to this day in my little brother's microbudget gaming rig.

I've been debating building an early 2000s gaming rig based off the Athlon XP or Pentium 4 for solely nostalgic reasons. Plus the games from that era seem to run better on that hardware.

I can't believe it is going to be 10 years on August 30th! Here is my first thread. Please don't laugh at me. :(

I did not know how to assemble a rig.

After the folks here patiently helped me out, I graduated to making my first sticky:

Soon after, DFI came along and boy, those were the fun days of overclocking. Talk about bleeding edge balls to the walls blow it up on air type overclocking:

Heh, my first thread is a mess compared to yours

 on 10 years at OCF!

Not there yet, but soon. In those days, the level of activity was higher and it was great to have a very large knowledgeable and enthusiastic crowd. It took a lot of deliberation to promote somebody to a senior, as we were spoiled for choice. I was rejected twice before making the cut. I do miss all the people who were around then. I don't see that spark in forum activity these days. But then perhaps I am getting old and life has changed. :bday:
