It says social security numbers in the linked article as well. Why would you be using a SSN to buy something online, anyway? That seems like it should be a common sense warning sign

I've purchased from buy.com (rakuten now) several times as well and have never had an issue. Also didn't have to give my SS?

I've ordered from here a few times and the only issue I've had is that they take a bit to ship sometimes.

I typically use PayPal to avoid allowing them to store any financial information.
