7750 & e6750 question

ok so im not too knowledgeable on lower end stuff i can put it together no no idea on performance of it

would a 7750 be choked out by a e6750 @ lets say.. 3.6-4.0 ghz depending on the cooling idk how its going to hold up. (the cooling that is) im upgrading my htpc to play diablo 3 for when my babt comes in a few months, but dont have alot to spend. i did some research but its hard to find anyone running this low of hardware for anykind of benchmarks.

i have read that the game can use 4 cores but it runs fine on two? anyone have any expierence

and the reason im going with the 7750 is because its the best performance / price for a low profile card seeing as how it trades blows with my 4870 which is a power hog lol this thing dont even need a 6 pin uses almost 1/3 of the power! and only costs 120 bucks for the low pro version

A 7750 is a weak card and won't be bottlenecked by your CPU. Have a look at a second hand 5850, 5870, 6850 or 6870 as they are all a lot more powerful than a 7750 and you might be able to pick one up for a similar price to a 7750.

none of the cards you suggested are low profile the only low pro card more powerful costs like 400 the only place o could find it

edit sorry was on my phone: which was the 6850 low pro
according to reviews i should be able to play diablo 3 max settings with it, which is its intended use so i can play d3 inside without having to bring the baby out to the mancave which is seperatte from the house

that 6750 will clock fine to about 3.6gHz. 450 FSB. I have one currently with a 4850 card in it and it runs D3 like a champ. While D3 WILL use multiple cores the game . . or any game for that matter really will not run better on 'more' cores. As games require input form the user to proceed games are more or less meant to be single threaded. Some will do a tiny bit better on 2 cores but few if any games actually run better on 4 cores. It's just not efficient. You are far better off with 1 or 2 cores at high speed than to have 4 cores and slower speeds when playing games.

sweet! thanks, yea ive run this particular chip at 4.0ghz 24/7 but had a larger cooler on it so im thinking 3.6-3.8 with the little durin i have even though the recommended cpu for the game is a c2d @ 2.4ghz

i will more than likely be playing at 720p because 1080 detail is too fine for me to see from the couch lol (as in i can barely read text lol)
