gpu temps

I was wondering about safe gpu temps. I just purchased a Xfx 6600gt which has temperature reading in the control panel.I was wondering what safe core temps are? I have overclocked the card to 520/ 1100, and after running 3dmark2003 the core temp read 51c. I know this isnt a long test, but is this a safe place to start? Also the core threshold is set at 145C, which seems very high to me! any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.

51 is a good temp and nothing to be worried about at all. Personally, I would only begin to worry when it reaches 70C. Right now my 6800 idles at 40C and maxes in the low 50's.
