thinking either that heatsink or the true120x - goal is 3.2-3.6 ghz oc 24-7-365 summer or winter :D

Looking good, but i would change a few things,

Go with a corsair 620 or even the 520, the are great power supplys.

Maybe a cheaper case like the CM 630 or Antec 900, unless you need a full tower.

I've never heard of that heatsink, i would go with this one http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=21163&vpn=SCNJ-1100P&manufacture=Scythe for your budget, however if you can afford another $30 or so id grab a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, by far the best cooler on the market.

Other than that it looks like a great build

You should get a ip35-e it has mosfet heat sinks and removable bios chip unlike the ds3l. The corsair psus are all great so I hear, so those would be better than a ocz which have tiny 12 volt rail heat sinks!

I'm sorry, but what is all this replacement plan stuff? Is there a need for this?

IMO if your equipment crunks out on you within a year, the money you spend for the replacement plan could equal the value of what you are replacing. Also, most of these should have rma and warranties anyways (ie ram and hardrive to name a few). I would exnay these and immediately because of the two reasons I mentioned, should save you considerable money and imo these cost adders are gimmics.

with that mobo [my original one] there are 3 ocz ram combos - noticed one with ddr2 1000 with 4 GB which overall would be preferable size wise as I'd like to end up with 8 GB later on :p planning to run a 4 GB ramdisk and load os into it on boot

took a look at that asus board which does look slick - seems like there might be some linux issues with it seeing the cdrom or so due to some weird chipset error - tho ive seen some configs that got it so its solvable - how much better would you say it is than the gbyte?

also another thing thats been bugging me is do i really need say ddr2 1066 / 1000 ram? can i just get away with ddr2 800?
