im trying (hoping it exists) to find a log in vista and details why the system crashed...i am having a problem while playing games where my pc locks up and the only way to do anything is to restart the computer. Any ideas?

thanks

ok my next question would be..where do i look to see what caused a system crash? or how to setup monitoring to have it log a crash

Open Event Viewer and expand "Windows Logs", click on "System" and "Application", and scroll down to find any critical error(s) (or look under "Summary of Administrative Events--> Event Type--> Critical)... double click the specific critical error(s) so it opens in the Summary Page Events window. Next click on Copy--> Copy Details as Text in the RH pane, and paste the contents of the ClipBoard in this thread.

I didn't mean for you to run a benchmark, but to perform an error scan ("Error Scan" tab) of the array. You might also want to try running the chkdsk tool from the command prompt... (Start | "Start Search" field | Type cmd | Right click cmd.exe under "Programs", and select "Run as administrator" | At the prompt, type chkdsk /f c: (assuming your array is assigned C:\), and when asked if you'd like this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts... hit Y and ENTER.

Download and run CCleaner, then perform a registry scan (Registry--> Scan for issues). Look through all of the problems detected (uncheck any items you may not be comfortable deleting), and when you're satisfied w/ the results hit the "Fix selected issues" button... you'll need to restart afterwards.
