Are you using realtemp to measure your CPU temperature? So the settings i suggested caused BSOD? Did it boot into windows? You might want to try a higher voltage at the vcore.

80c should be your limit on temp.

I'm using Core Temp 1.0 RC3, and I intially misunderstood the heat measurement because I changed the settings from actual temp to distance from Tmax.

The PC is running about 40 C even after hitting 4.5 GHZ for extended periods of time. I also seriously doubt that anything you suggested caused my BSODs. I wasn't having them at all until it stormed in my sleep. When I woke up the PC was off and upon starting said it had shut down improperly. Everything is on quality surge protectors, but my system was so screwed up I couldn't keep it on in recovery.

Before I reloaded my OS again, I loaded CMOS from BIOS that had been successful > 5 times. Once the system was funtional again it was running stable again at 4.5 GHZ @ about 40 celsious, and I haven't even touched the turbo settings. My guess is that the old settings that actually worked got loaded, and I was hesitant to poke around with the settings since I probably won't get much more out of the CPU until I get a water cooling system for it.

If someone would explain to me how to use that template that was posted I would do the same to make all of this more clear. It may seem self explanitory, but I am very ADD, and the obvious escapes me most of the time even though I seem to be better at what most would have a hard time with.

Press select all and copy and paste into a new thread, then put your Bios and votage settings with the template in the thread.

Makes perfect sense. Thank you.

Another question though. How much more should I expect to get out of my CPU with tweaking? As far as I can tell the temp is absolutely fine running at 4.5 ghz, but I honestly didn't think I could go much faster without a water cooler. Have I underestimated the CPU's potential?

Edit: Wow. I totally missed your sig. I guess I did underestimate it.

What CPU cooler do you have?

To clock higher you may have to enable PLL.

All I have for cooling are the fans that came with the case and the CPU. That's why I thought overclocking more until I got a watercooler might be dangerous.

Yes if your using the stock heatsink for the CPU you should not overclock any higher.
