Strafing pretty far off of the topic of power supplies, but it does have to deal with one.

Can anyone tell me the technical name of the connector circled in red below? I'm repinning a backplane that doesn't match the ATX standard and want it to be as clean as possible.

That is a very good question.
I don't know what those are called. Could be a header I suppose.

Best match I can find on Digikey is the "Wire to Board Connectors" section.
I could not find an exact match.

Here's a couple pics of the bits out of a PSU I shredded a while ago:

Looking closely, I am not impressed in a good way by the workmanship of whoever installed this connector.

Lol I'm not impressed either by the soldering. Where did you find that connector at?

Yeah. I'm going to keep an eye out and keep digging around. I'll let you know if I find anything.

I asked about them a couple of years ago at BadCaps.net, and one of the experts there informed me they were terminals and gave me this link in the DigiKey catalog in their connectors/terminals/wire-to-board section:

DOH! I ended up buying $25 worth of crimp on snap connectors. So far they have been okay.

@Bobnova, Do you think 40w would be enough to desolder them? Frys has a 40w adjustable for a good price as well as a 80w without a stand for the same price

40w is plenty if you get a high mass tip for the iron.
40w on a pencil tip, probably not.
