My first foray beyond 1080p begins today!

I need a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Version 1.2 cable, but there are only a few brands and I've never heard of any of them.

Is C2G as good as Accell? What about StarTech?

Anything else I should look for?

Hardware:

  • 27" Monitor resolution is 2560 x 1440 (ASUS PB278Q)
  • Alienware laptop, video card supports up to 3840 x 2160. (Dual GeForce GTX 880M graphics card, 2x8GB GDDR5 NVIDIA SLI)

Some brands have different builds (gold/material quality, layers.... Why would there be no difference between them?

Because displayport is digital, which is less prone to interference than analog signals. With an analog signal, you want a decent, shielded cable, because that cable may pick up outside EMI that degrades the signal. With a digital signal, with the rare exception, you won't see that type of degradation in shorter runs.
