asking my borderline monthly question of, when do we get the native quadcores?

I put my bandaid on my system, and its a marginal improvement, but Im dieing to see some real horsepower, and I am waiting for the native quadcores and DDR3 ram. so now that the 6320 and 6420 and all that stuff is out, we have an info on whats coming to antiquate all of this?

well in my mind, and hopefully the real world, the quadcores Im looking for will replace the C2D in price. IE not this ridiculous 900$ stuff that we have now, that can barely beat the dual core.

Kentfeild's will be dirt cheap come Q3-4 (but the cooling  new netburst heat :eh?: ) but as said the DDR3 native 45nm quad core action coming around the same time is going to be some $$$$$$$$$$. though the P35 chipset will let you run your mad clocking DDR2 with the new CPU's and it will be in the cheaper motherboards (think P965) so its the CPU that will be painfull on the wallet.

I have been reading that the next set of Intel chipsets after this (post bearlake) might have infaband networking on the mobo though  that sounds like fun to me ;)

I donno, but I feel it could potentially improve my porn viewing experience, so I like it!!!

:) cool to hear though, $$$$$$$ doesnt make me happy, but if it atleast has a purpose, I need something to drool over, right now a QX6800 isnt really worth even dreaming about.

I donno what giga ethernet is, but I know "large file storage server viewing" must be related to porn somehow!

The quad core beats the living crap out of the dual core if you actually use the quad core for what it's intended for. More cores doesn't mean super duper way many much better for most people because most people don't truely need that many cores to begin with. It will change as soon as everything becomes multithreaded.

as far as I heard, the quad cores worked as long as you didnt ask it to do anything bigger than its L2 cache.... soon as all 4 cores wanted to access the system ram, the FSB choked it.

maybe I was misinformed.

I've never heard of that. Heavy mathematical calculations resulting from professional level scene renders using high quality gi/raytracing definitely uses all available resources the cpu and system has. I have gotten 80-100% increases in render times.
