9600GT 512mb + E8400 @ 3.7 Results

I just got this card and I'm about to go install it and run some tests. I'll post them up as I go.

Don't go looking for the drivers on the Nvidia site...this card to them does not exist.

This thing is huge compared to my ATI Radeon X300. The card is a lot longer and it weighs about 4x as much.

I'm downloading the drivers now.

I assume by it's name that it competes with the 8600, but how does it perform compared to the 8800 gt?

slightly slower, but it performs better than the 3870 512mb cards.

I'm running 3dMark06 now on 800x600 and it is flying! My X300 averaged about .5fps this is going around 35fps.

Question: If I set my computer resolution to 800x600 does that do the tests at 800x600?

Cool, an overclocked 9600GT should pull down around 12-13k with your CPU @ 3.7

Nice card......I'm kinda annoyed with nVidia putting that inneffective single slot jet engine on as stock cooler, surely the GTS cooler is not that more in cost, much more effective IMO.

The 'free' version of 3d06 runs 1280x1024 I think no matter what resolution you pick.

Yeah

On my best 3d06 run I had

CPU1 - Red Valley 1.12 FPS CPU2 - Red Valley 1.79 FPS

Quads give you about double the performance at similiar clocks, go 4 cores!

Yes, even my E8400 at 4.23 GHz gets 2 FPS in the CPU test, it mainly uses your CPU to render the images hence the low FPS

Questions: How do I check what version of DirectX I have installed? What version do I want installed? Can I do a Crysis bench without the game, is there a downloadable tool or demo?
