Always use same OS image. No changes.

Hi Overclockers,

Is it possible to set it up such that Windows runs from a RAM drive after loading from a read only support (ie. a DVD) at start up?
At shut down all changes are lost. Successive start ups load always the same image
(the “read only” being chiefly to enforce no alteration and avoid having to manually ensure the desired image is used at each start up)

Optionally the OS could be shut down conventionally or a more recent image created for subsequent use as described.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums. Please post if what you wanted to do actually worked and please post what side effects you noticed.

If all else fails, install a dual boot on relatively small partitions onto a (small) SSD. Boot from one into the other and reimage one from the other in a couple of minutes.
