i7 adds hyperthreading, more cache (6 to 8MB) and another 100 mhz IIRC. It's nice to have but not worth the money unless your photo/video editing. Save the cash for a better GPU or hold on for a future upgrade. Gaming doesn't really use the hyperthreading much.

That's a 770GTX for a couple of games. The extra 75 bucks for marginal returns isn't worth it in my book.

I would look for a used i5 3750k's and Z77's and save cash as well. You don't seem like a crazy OC'er with a stock Q6600, so spending more than 100 on a motherboard is a waste IMO as well, the base model with a PCI-e slot, 4 DIMM's, SATA3 and a cpu socket will work just as well as a crazy 300 dollar MB.
