damn!!! why is it so expensive if you buy it from the auto shop? I got mine for 28 bucks, some even got theirs for like 16.

Yeah, mine cost $30 shipped from Napa's online site. But other than that...

They're basically the same core. The only difference is that DTek adds barbs, which, in my opinion, unecessarily restrict flow.

I just went over to Autozone and checked the price and it was 26.99$ and I wasn't sure if it was the 16$ you (The Spyder) got cuz they didn't have in stock so I have to wait till tomorrow.

they have to special order it coz they dont usually have it on stock. dont worry though, if you buy/order it before 12 or something, you'll have it by around 4 pm :D. and i got mine the same price as you mentioned.

Wow, they must have been having a sale, but still the napa one I bought was only $24 special ordered.....

Yea!!! I just got my Chevette Heatercore for 20$ + tax from autozone (afte a long database searching). However, my problem is the inlet is 5/8" and outlet is 3/4" and what I need is 1/2". I can't use solder because I don't know anyone good at it or to have tools for it. So I don't know if I can use the 1/2" tube and stretch it for both inlet and outlet. So what do you think? Does it cause any harm or reduce waterflow? If you have alternative beside soldering, plz tell me.

Most chevette heatercores have 1 tube that is 5/8" OD while the other tube is 5/8" coming out of the heatercore for an inch then it expands up to 3/4" OD.

I used a hacksaw to cut off the 3/4" part and cut the other tube to shorten it to the same length. After deburring, this left a pair of inch long copper tubes 5/8" OD ready for tubing. 1/2" ID clearflex will fit, but it's a strech:D

you can get a heater core for a 94 ford escort for under $20 at auto and both barbs are 5/8 if i remember right and they are primo size, you might want to check those out

Yeah... check out this site... it is awesome and has ton of heater cores:

1994 Ford Escort Heater Core

It is too big to fit on the commercially available shrouds :( What a shame... looks like a good core.
