gateway p 6831 cpu issue...

So i bought a new cpu for my 6831 fx, a t9900.
I put the cpu in and reconnect everything and when i hit the power button, nothing happens.
I try this multiple times, until I re-insert my old processor, and everything works fine....
what could be the issue here, or do I have a bad processor...

The 1066MHz FSB of the T9900 isn't compatible w/ the 667/800MHz FSB CPU requirement for the P-6831.
