Overclocking Tualatin plz help!

I have a 1.2ghz celeron vid mod overclocked to 1.5ghz @ 1.6v. I would like to reach 1.6ghz even 1.7ghz if possible. Here is the deal i can boot to the windows screen at 1.6ghz with 1.7v but after a sec of hard drive acticvity it stops , the num lock button still works but the hard drive quits. I thought i needed to up the voltage i did this all the way up too 1.8v still no go. I have cas2 pc133 memory from crucial, HSF is AX-7 with sunon 39cfm (do i need a higher cfm fan, would that help?) I have resitted the hsf 5 times to get better contact but only got 2c better ARC.Silv2., Lian-li pc61 case with the sunon 39cfm case fans (2) front and (1) back. Antec true 380watt psu. idle temps are 46c, load 49c.

Any ideas would really help me out!

What MB are you running, and what are the dividers set too?

I am not sure but maybe that CPU will not hit 1.6GHz.

What is your FPO #?

What is your mobo also? If you are at 1.6v and 1.5GHz it sounds like you may not have much left for your OC.

Well that could be it too. I have noticed that anything over 40c is a huge loss in stability. Look into a bigger h-sink fan with more cfm, or check that it is contacting the core properly. Possibly is you get the neber you could remove the IHS.

The AX-7 is high on the list at overclockers.com that is why i got it but i did not use the delta if it is due to heat then i will look at a higher cfm, i just dont want the noise. Fans i may get are either the sunon 50cfm , and possibly the delta 68cfm but with a reostat.

I thought i was haveing trouble with the dividers but i have it at 4:4:1 @1.5ghz and i have lowered the voltage to 1.55v and load temp never gets above 48c. I will later tonight recontact the HSF to the cpu. I will clean it after removal to make sure of no air pockets and other such things that may affect cooling.

Temp question how many more watts of heat does the Tualatin put out vereus the coppermine my p3-700 overclocked never got over 38c with pep66 and the voltage is at 1.8

As of late there have been a few ST6's that read temps too high.

Also I have found that some of the new 1.2GHz chips actually OC horribly. I can hit 1.5GHz on like 1.55v but any higher than that and BSOD!

You said something about the chip starting with Q. That is a bad sign especially if it is made in MALAY. I have one of them that intel RMA's for me and it OC's like I said above. Very Bad! You want to stay away from these chips for sure! I have tried three of them all from Q149A867! Bad chips!

ok, question then. Malay is not good then? Most of the 1.6ghz overclocks in the cpu data base are malay. Well i only hope that if it The temps ,then i'll be getting a new fan to try... (ill cross my fingers and hope). When you rma'ed one from intel they sent you a Malay what was it before?
