I went with what a reviewer told me (twistedmods.com) and picked up a tube of CoolingFlow. In the reviewers test it performed far better than AS2 and AS3. Based on that, I got a tube for $4. I applied it to my xp1700 (@1.6ghz) and was dissapointed by the results. 50c idle and 54c full load using a Coolermaster HHC-002.

Did I just apply it wrong or is this stuff just crap? Has anyone else used it?

What I did was I coated the heatsink with a small amount of it and smoothed it out with a credit card. I then applied it to the cpu core and smoothed it out the same way. I like how it is so easy to apply. I guess I just need to reapply it again to see if that was the problem.
