I'm looking to make this a nice system even before o/cing, so disregarding budget concerns, what motherboard would you buy?

I'm looking for either DDR or RDRAM.

Previously I'd heard RDRAM was better than DDR, but the current RDRAM boards make for bad o/cing. Is this true? I'm willing to pay for RDRAM if there is a good board.

the SiS 648 based boards are about to come out, and an ABIT one is already on newegg, which I plan on buying. They support DDR400 which is show to be a little bit better on some benchmarks or a just a little bit behind on others when compared with rdram 1066...these are more real word benchmarks and not memory throughput ones.

Hey i was wondering something... If it says that the mobo only supports 200/266 ddr ram would it be possible to use ddr 333 or 400 and still get the full performance out of them? (meaning getting ddr 333 or 400 speed)

Will the Th711 take 1066 Rdram or are there still problems getting it too work. This is still a confusion for me. I have to agree as of now it is still the best board in light of the problems with the P4t533 overclocking

DDR:
ABIT SR7-8X: DDR333
Holds the most promise for DDR Intels, the board uses SIS 468 which supports DDR333 and unofficially supports DDR400. This limits the bandwidth choke experienced with the older boards. ABIT has it together with their Intel boards so I would expect this one to be a great OCer. As well the ABIT SR7 has AGP 8x nothing big now but a plus when it comes to future AGP cards.


RDRAM:
ASUS P4T533: RDRAM 3200/4200
The new ASUS uses the new 232-Pin RDRAM giving a major boost in memory speed as well as bandwidth. The only major problem I see is the 1.5v AGP which is limiting to say the least, 1.8v would have been nice, I suspect there to be more volt moding with this board. Other then the 1.5v AGP, the new ASUS looks very promising even more so if you think of paring it with the ATI 9700.

A380 if your not out to OC then the ASUS board will do fine, but you might want to look into the P4T533 and not the C version, if only to be ready for the next wave of motherboards.

P4S8X it a sis648 based motherboard thats going to have

serial ata, 8x agp, ddr 400 support, and 6 channel audio

to me it seems the best board comming out for future

After looking at some more articles, I'm pretty sure I'd like to go pc1066 rdram. Is there a borad that is already out or will be released in 1-2 months that supports pc1066, 8x agp, and serial ata?
It doesn't matter to me if its a great o/cer as I'm going quiet aircooling so I can't o/c too far anways.

If not, I might just settle for a good Sis648 board.

A380 the only major benefit that the P4T533 has is the PC4200, which translates into faster bandwidth (i.e. apps/games run faster) then the P4T533-C, which uses PC1066. As well you don’t need to pair RAM with the P4T533 like do you with the P4T533-C so you end up saving money. PC4200 is actual PC1066 but with 232-Pins instead of 184-Pins, this allows it to go beyond the 1Ghz speed and reach 4.2Ghz, the physical difference is that the PC4200 has one notch while the PC1066 has two.

Thantos the ABIT is out, I know that NewEgg sells the board for $108 US.

HGREEN you just described the ABIT SR7-8x minus that the ABIT is currently out now while the ASUS is not. As well ABIT is known for great OCing while ASUS tends to choke volts left and right, so between the two I would personal pick ABIT as I know ASUS will charge more the $108 for their board and I don’t feel like volt moding if it’s not necessary.

To be honest Jim I’ve not seen a PC1066 with AGP 8x and Serial ATA, you’ll most likely see the PC4200 with the full set of features before the PC1066 since the PC1066 is old tech.

I wanted to go with PC800. I know that PC1066 is faster, but on the ASUSwebsite it says

And the only tested one is Samsung. So that's why i'm thinking of PC800.
OK, the P4T533 is faster, but i don't really like the AGP Pro slot, because i don't want to change everthing again.

Ok. I never heard about the pc4200 rdram before now. Is this a modified pc1066 with more pins or all new? I was under the impression pc1200 was next to be released...
So you think the ASUS P4T533 is good other than the low voltage? I do plan on overclocking, but due to lower cfm fans, not a very large one, so +.1 volts should be plenty for me. It at least offers this much adjustability right?
Hmm, I guess what I need is to know what the default voltage is on a 2.2 or 2.4 p4 to know how much higher the 1.5v is ;P
