Really dumb question, but I nee a quick answer as I am about to power up!

I read the manual to my new ABit BD7-II an it simply says P4s need a newer kind of power supply. There are 2 plugs that come from the power supply one is the standard motherboard power plug in and the other is a 4 point connecter that is new to me. The question is do I connect both of these power cords to my mother board or just the newer 4 point connector?
