That's what happens when you support things that aren't a standard (DDR400 anyone?)

I just noticed that DX9 compatible drivers have leaked out for the existing Radeon line. Of course these are a developer beta, but if they have DX9 drivers for older cards I'm sure they will for the 9700 by the time its out.

And so what if it ships without DX9? When it comes out you'll have a card that can immediately take advantage of it.

MICROSOFT won't allow the release any DX9 drivers until MICROSOFT releases DX9.

ATI will have the DX9 drivers ready, but they would be breaking the law if they shipped them with the card.

Of course, there isn't a single DX9 app. yet, so I guess this is not a big deal. I mean, are there any other DX9 cards out there shipping with DX9 drivers?

Maybe it's just me being defensive for ATI, but people hounding ATI for this sems absurd.

Of course, this is hardly a problem and it's certainly not an ATI issue. Microsoft will just not let ATI to ship its cards with a Microsoft beta API at this time.

Are you trying to insinuate that ATI is lying about this Cull?

Kind of reminds me of the FUDD about no Win9X support for this line of cards.

Of course, what people failed to mention there is that MICROSOFT will not certify ANY drivers (WQHL) for ANY hardware released after JULY1st, 02 for any WIN9x OS.

ATI, however, will continue to support the older OS's, it's just that MICROSOFT will not certify them.

Now you seem to be insinuating, though it's not clear since all you do is quote other posts, the absence of your own words are conspicously absent.

Since MICROSOFT won't allow ATI to include BETA Directx9 drivers with the ATI R9700, I don't see where you are going with this....Do you have a point? Don't be afraid to use your own vernacular

I never said I was lying. Radeon 9700 chip does support DirectX 9. Its just that the drivers that going to come pre-packaged with the card either will not have support for DX9 or it will be a beta version. Needlesstosay, when DX9 is offically released from Microsoft, then ATI can release the DX9 drivers they have (yes I'm sure they have them ready, but they can't release them). So how can you say that ATI is lying about this?

I'm sorry that I quote other posts, but I find it wasteful to reword the information that nobody seems to pay attention to.

Sorry I'm in a rush right now, i had a squad match in like 3 sec.

I could've sworn SSS posted this a couple days ago..

Anyhow, I read "R9700 ships without DX9" not "R9700 will not ship w/ DX9 drivers due to monkeys on strike."

I don't see why you must get all upset at that. You're attacking something that wasn't commented on. The article linked didn't say neery a bad thing about the 9700 either..

MS hasn't released DX9. The 9700 will ship without it.
