very well done and unique. I've never seen someone do that before and it looks good. Doesn't that ruin the air circulation though?

You could fix any airflow problems buy taking another cd rom chasis, gutting all the works out and cutting the matching cut in the bottom and sealing them together

perhaps you could attach some 5.25" blanking plates to the door so when it closes it covers it up?

You know what would be really cool... making it motorized; you push a button, and the bay cover opens up, and the cd's are on like a track and they roll out. You could probably easily do it with Lego's or Techniks or something.

Sorry, I've been in the wondering stage right now for modding... LMAO.

is there any way to get that kind of mod without leaving the front ugly? i mean the mod itself is cool, but personally i thought that it would look better if it had some kind of door or something that closes when you push it back in.

If there was a way you could keep the tray ejection components live and powered after the conversion, it wouldn't be too difficult to hinge a pair of bay covers, spring load the bottom one and then connect the 2 via a small pulley. That way, you trigger the tray to eject, the tray pushes the bottom bay cover open which also opens the top one at the same time.

If you could chop off the inch extra on the spindel, make it take one drive space it would be great :-D

very unique, sweet idea. I like it... I also like the idea of putting a motor and having the CD's pop out when you push a button, now that would make this thing *WICKED COOL* ... it already is but still
