Unhappy Did i do the right thing?

OK, so i'm at pricewatch.com and i see these Geforce 3 TI 500s selling about 110 dolars. ANd iw as like wow, i paid for my gainward geforce 3 ti 200 64ddr around 113.00 plus 6 shipping retail version

Now, did i do the right thing and got my gf3 ti 200? at the beggining of the summer? or should i have waited and got a ti 500? i can overclock my ti200 to about 220/500

Mine has the same exact heatsink & fan as the GF3 TI500 golden sample TI550. So mine is TI450 golden sample.

So do you all think i did the right thing

sounds like a good card, unfortunately gf3 ti500's have been spotted for 93 bucks in the last few days.

your card will perform very well for a while. have fun with it and don't worry about a better deal coming along. you can't second guess yourself in the world of computer parts. buy what you like and the future be... uh... darned

there is absolutely no way to avoid this type of situation in the pc hardware world. no matter what part you buy(except maybe monitors, they hold value fairly well), youll find it drastically cheaper within 1 or 2 months. thats just how fast the industry moves.

so taht being said, yes you did the right thing. that was cheap 2 months ago, so be happy with your purchase. and from what i hear, most ti200s should oc to ti500 levels.

also, if your not planning on buying something, or you dont have money to buy anything.....then do yourself a favour and stay off pricewatch.com, it will only serve to creat more frustration for you.

Look at it this way, you got a good deal at the time you bought the card. If you question yourself too much, you'll never upgrade anything and you'll just end up waiting for the next best thing to come out for the rest of your life. The computer industry is like that. Although I keep kicking myself for forgetting to buy another gig of memory last year, before prices went up again.

yeah well i think the best idea is to save up like 3 thousand dollars then buy top of the line everything for your computer except monitor cause top of the line there is around 2-3 grand in itself

Well you'll probably have to wait a long time to save up that cash and also a long time for those types of products to flood the market

You got yourself a good card. It overclocks quite nicely: very close to ti500 spec. You've been able to enjoy it all summer long instead of waiting for the next best thing to drop in price. As long as you like the card, you've done the right thing.

I am not in a rush. As long as new games run at least 50 frames per second than i am fine. By summer 2003 i figure things like agp8x and so called DDR2 should be out right?

I just dont see the techonolgical advancement right now. Like when i went from P1 266 to Duron 850 i noticed big improvements etc.

You think you made a mistake.

I had a TNT (not 2) card that I had been using for a long time when the GF3 first came out (shows how long I had been running it ). So what I do? I finally decided to upgrade and got the GF3 within the first week of release. Total I believe was just around $330.

This suckers getting transplanted into my next rig for the next 2 years.

Heh I remember when I got my Athlon 1ghz 256RAM Geforce 2 GTS 32MB about a little over two years ago from today and man that was quite the upgrade because I had been using a P1 133mhz 16mb RAM and who knows what for graphics since that was top of the line in early 96 late 95.

Now just two years after getting that 1ghz PC I already can't play the newest games in high res with good graphics, but I have a better computer anyhow that I play games on.
