I'm a serious NEWBIE to overclocking, so I need some help.

I have an older system from 1996 I'd like to overclock:

> HP Vectra VE Series 6/350, 512kb L2 cache
> Intel PII 350Mhz running on a 100MHz bus
> 196mb sys mem
> AMBIOS v1.17 - I've looked around inside the bios
and there is no option to edit clocking.
> Windows 2000 Pro o/s

I have located a set of 6 dip switches/jumpers on my motherboard, where the first 4 are for setting the processor speed. I moved the switches for a 450MHz processor but it did nothing on restart, it defaulted back to 350MHz.

Is there anything I can do... or is it all not worth it?

Check to see if you have the option of setting the jumpers to 133Mhz for the FSB, that might be about the only option you have plus your gonna be pushing with stock cooling and not having the ability to adjust the CPU voltage. Another option is to try one of the software FSB adjusters like SoftFSB and see if it works on your machine.
