Power-on Problem

Just tried my first major computer upgrade last night (replaced a Pentium II 300 and mobo w/ an MSI K7T Turbo2 and Athlon XP 1600+), and all went well at first. I didn't replace the hard drive, so I got back into Windows Me with everything in tact. I restarted a few times, but now...

Every time I turn on the power supply, the HSF spins for about a second, then turns off, and nothing happens. Could the power supply be blown? It's only a 250W, but the only other components I had connected were a 6GB HDD, Floppy Drive, AGP TNT2 Card, and NIC.

Any idea what's going on?

Hmmm, but does it actually power on? Your power supply maybe too weak. It may not have enough amps on the rails to power it up. The first thing to do is disconnect all power but the board and CPU Fan (Important).

Disconnect the IDE/ATA Channels, remove all PCI Cards and USB devices. So basically you only have motherboard, ram, cpu + heatsink w/ fan connected, and video card in and then turn it on. If it fails it could be either the power supply or motherboard. But do what I told you and then we'll narrow it down. But it sounds to me the PSU isn't getting enough juice.
