The chip is not cheap yet. Hope there are more competition on the CPU market to bring it further down!

Hey cheap is a matter of perspective. I paid over $300 for a K6-233 4 years ago. I'd say a P4 2.53 at $240 is pretty cheap.

(Then again, I've gotten my last two procs for free, so...)

P4-2.0 (128K) $103 Northwood 0.13 micron process

whoo hoo. they're out much sooner than i expected. (mind you, they probably won't make it to australia until christmas :rolleyes: )
pity they still only have 128k L2.
what a stupid f***ing idea that is.

I guess Intel had learn from the previous blunder on the
Celeron 300A (128K) that OC to 450Mhz at default.
The PII with the 512K did not sell well during that period.

Most probably if they were to released a Northwood Celeron running on 256K cache. I guess they will have difficulties selling the 512K off then.

Wow! I've been writing about getting a Celeron 1.7, but I might have to be patient! How close to the 26th will it be??lol. I need something soon. Maybe I can even scrape up mo money by the 1st of Sep..lol. I wanna P4 not a Celly that's fer sure. I hate having to just settle don't you?

Shoot! I forgot to ask...Where are these price change quotes from? I want to keep up with that stuff as well. It seems like it's a good upgrade time for everyone! Whoo hooo!

Just in time too..lol.

Cant wait for the price drop, also, any news as to whether RDRAM will come down in price? 180 for 2x256 samsung is best price ive seen

From a close friend who is working at a IT company however price may differ a few dollars in different countries.

confusionfactor

Do not get a celly 1.7Ghz. Better get a 2.0Ghz on a Northwood core as u may get it up to 3Ghz easily???

way to bring up a dead thread :rolleyes:

a = 100mhz fsb (400mhz quad pumped)
b = 133mhz fsb (533mhz quad pumped)
c = 200mhz fsb (800mhz quad pumped)
