does this sound like a worth while idea

well my computer is in my basement where it is usally nice and cold. my idea is that sincee my computer is somewhat close to the heat, i was thinking of running a duct from the a/c vent to the back of my computer. then from their to my heasink/fan. this way my heatsink would only get fresh cold/dry air from the a/c instead of hot air from the case. kinda in the same idea that people put cold air intakes on thier cars, but in this case i would be more like an intercooler.

Its not a bad idea, as mentioned above its portability would be gone, but if you are like me it moves less then once a year, so that wouldent be a problem. Seems like a cheap way to decrease the temps.

How far exactly away is this duct? If it's too far and you don't precisely choose the right material for the duct, I think there would be dead air inside from lack of movement. Maybe not, I'm not sure. But, a little tunnel of air going a long way looses it's driving force. I'm sorry, I know it sounds like I'm just rambling!

Don't forget that air conditioning does not run all the time. Only when the thermostat calls for more cooling (although I know you can run the fan full time). And if you turn your thermostat down so your a/c runs all the time, you might as well buy a water cooling sytem for the amount of money you'll burn.

Just my 2 cents.

I had a similar idea of placing my computer ontop of my airvent in my room. One thing i would point out, is keep a close eye on condensation. Also like was said, it sorta is bad when the air kicks off and your system heats up.
