My 512mb Samsung PC2700 DDR 333mhz needs 2.65v to run stably at the rated 166x2 speed. If my memory serves, the default voltage for such type of ram should be 2.5v. Is this a sign of problem? or at least less potential for future memory overclocking beyong 166x2? I'd like to know the voltage at which you run your ram.

Thanks for your help.

ram

I run my corsair at 2.75v when at 166, an at 2.85v when at its rated speed of 200. I bet I'm using a little more than is necessary...

I thought RAM used 3.3V. Of all the settings and monitors I've got in this thing, nothing reads in the range of 2.5 - 2.9V. The closest things are the 1.75 - 1.85V for the CPU and the 3.3V for the... for whatever it's for (AGP and RAM, thinks another thread I started). Now I'm really confused!

I can run at 200mhz at stock vdimm. Don't really know what it is since I don't know how to change it.

If somebody know what the default VDIMM is for the A7V333,
I'd like to know what it is.

SDRAM uses 3.3v

Just above the AGP slot there are 2 undocumented jumpers
J1 and J2, with them it is possible to adjust the DIMM/RAM voltage. The settings are:

JP1 [1-2] - JP2 [1-2] = 2.50volt
JP1 [2-3] - JP2 [1-2] = 2.65volt
JP1 [1-2] - JP2 [2-3] = 2.75volt
JP1 [2-3] - JP2 [2-3] = 2.80volt

I've heard a bunch of info on this, some say it's 2.7v and some say 2.8v I've heard more people say that it's 2.8v so that's what I tend to believe.

The SDRAM works with 3,3Vmem and the DDR with 2,5Vmem...Those are the "standard" Voltages of them...Now if you want to push a DDR to it's "limit" you have to give it more Vmem so it can go higher in frequency...
Example : My Corsair XMS3200 C2 works at 2,5Vmem with these conditions >>> Cas 2-3-3-6 at 205MHz(2x210=420MHz DDR)...
If I want to work it at these timings >>> Cas 2-2-2-6, I just have to increase the Vmem at 3,2Volts to get 207MHz(414MHz)...
The maximum frequency I can get with timings Cas 2,5-3-3-7 and 2,5Vmem is 220MHz(440MHz)....If I want to get more MHz I have to put the Vmem at 3,2Volts and with timings Cas 2,5-3-3-7, I can "climbe" at 242MHz(484MHz DDR)...;)

my pc3000 mushkin does cas 1.5 up to about 155mhz with 2.7volts. the rated cas2 will do upwards of 190ish with 2.5volts. 210mhz+ requires cas 2.5 and 2.6v. i have yet to need 2.7 for anything faster than that.

can someone tell me... is 155 cas 1.5 better than 210 cas 2.5?

There's a big difference in MHz...The only way to find out is to do a bench...!!!;)
