How CPUFSB works

Does anyone know how these type of programs work? I was thinking of doing some research to make my own program because i cant find a program out there that will support my motherboard. so if you can help thanks.

and the reason that it doesnt work is because its a crappy gateway PIII 933Mhz and I want to overclock it to 1Ghz.

My legacy system isn't listed, so I didn't try to use it. It warned me that I could severly damage my bios/mobo if I didn't know what subsystem I have.

When I have another better computer that's also online, maybe I'll pursue it farther.
