Ok, I was mess'n with my bios :( and managed to reset it it defaults....

I HAD my system running as XP 1800

now it boots as 1415...

So i cleared the cmos

and it booted as 1800 then gave me this error

CMOS Checksum error - Defaults loaded
Warning CPU has been changed!

Then it asked me to go into the bios and save the settings

so i did.... (figureing it would save it has 1800)

but now it boots as 1415 agian!

I have my fsb set to 133... why is it doing this??

System:

AMD XP 1800
iWill 333XP
512mb (kingston ddr)

any help would be nice....

Alex

when i boots up my system says something like this usally

but now it says

CPU: AMD XP 1415+

Can you tell us if the syatem always had the XP1800 in it ?

If not what processor was in it.What main board is it does it support XP1800 ? {Sounds like it does}

I did some math and at 100 or 133 fsb that sped of 1415 is weird because no combo i think of makes 1415,

Ie 133x11=1463
133x10.5=1396

14x100=1400
14.5x100=1450

It may be that the FSB is overclocked and the system is setting the multiplier to get this mhz of 1415.

ok 145x9.5 = 1415 in my mind {be it small}this is the combo that would result in a post speed of what you are seeing...

Clear the cmos boot enter bios and reset bios to default settings.......{remove power cord prior to clearing cmoa}

well its giving a PR rating of xp1415, not running at 1415mhz so it seems to me that you are running at the default multiplier (11.5) and only 100 fsb. 11.5x100=1150mhz, which is slightly lower then the xp1500's speed (1.33mhz) so it gives a PR rating of xp1415+.

To verify what I am saying download WCPUID and run it to see what your actual fsb and multiplier are.

If you have had the cpu running at 1800+ speeds (1530mhz) before then there should be some settings in the BIOS that have been changed. You may have a setting for 100 or 133 fsb and you may also have a setting for duron or XP but there has to be something in there that needs to be changed.

I have had a similar problem, does your motherboard have an auto detect cpu option ? if so disable it, my comp gave cheksum error and reprtoed wrong cpu speed also, turning off this option got me past it, hope that helps.
