Yup, just use a PCI 2D card. The only problem is PCI video card tend to be FSB sensitive, atleast the older ones are.
 
i did this, and a couple of things i found out....
geforce cards dont like to 'pair up' i was using a geforce 3 and no-go.
ati cards do support multple monitors quite well.
I found that getting a multiple output card was the answer and was much easier. i bought a raeon7500 DDR with TV & DVI out, also got a DVI to VGA adapter.

I used to have a comp with 2 vids cards. One onboard and a S3 stealth 4mb card. It worked quite well under winxp. Now I just use my ti4400 with the dvi-vga connector and nview.

I didn't experience a problem with increasing the FSB.
