MSI or PNY GeForce 4 Ti4200 or GeForce 4 Ti4400 based cards. Seem to be the best to OC, and are cheap! The MSI Retail Ti4200 goes for 135 at Newegg!

definitely the Logitech Z-560's. Check out www.justdeals.com for a good price on these[/url] [/B]

STAY THE HECK AWAY FROM JUSTDEALS. that is unless you like getting screwed out of you money. horrible company that sells products claimed to be new as refurbs without even notifying the buyer, horrible sales reps, avoid like a two dollar horror with STD's from what i've heard from different people, just a heads up.

now then, i second the z-560's, unless you've got money to burn (alot more money to burn) the 560's can be found for around 160 shipped i believe is still the price at www.newegg.com, and some people actually compare them head on with the klipsch and cant tell the difference. now i'm not gonna blow smoke at ya, there is a difference, a big one if you're an audio freak, but its NOT worth the price you pay for it.. in mine, and most peoples opinions. sound card wise, if you've got a via chipset, i'd go with a hercules, i've had just too many damn problems with my audigy and sblive5.1 with via boards... next card will probably be a TerraTec more than likely...

i think, again, unless you have tons of cash to burn, that upgrading your card now or soon would be absolutely ludicris. the ti200 is still a great card, and unless you're having trouble playing some games of yours at 1024x768, i see now reason to throw money away, again unless you have lots to spare, and if thats the case, 1774 Aureola Drive, buddy... :D

good luck on your purchases

I'd spend your money on an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro video card. For a sound card, the performance between the Hercules Game Theater and Creative Audigy Platnium is just about perfectly even, so pick the card with the features you like best.

I'll give you two suggestions for speakers. If you mostly use your speakers for games and movies, the Logitech Z-560 are really hard to beat. The Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 might be just a little better for movies, but not three-times-the-price better.

If you are a music lover, however, you'll probably notice the Logitech (and Klipsch) put out too much bass. My favorite music speakers for the PC (and what I'm using to listen to Miles Davis on as I write this) are the Monsoon MM2000 4.1 system. At $300 these aren't cheap, but they are very good.

i'm not quite understanding why everyone says this. um, yes it puts out huge levels of bass which is great for gaming, dvds, rap, etc. but when i listen to my alt rock, or some old music, see that little speaker icon down in your system tray? yeah thats right open it up and turn the bass notch down to where you like :) also turn the bass down on the z-560 control pod. with these too tools (you have to have a decent sound card to be able to adjust bass) you can put the bass lvls exactly where you want them. i'm not seeing why everyone puts up such a fuss, at night i can basically turn the sub off, you dont even hear it so people can sleep - with these 2 tools.

I have heard the Klipsch and Logitechs are very even but the Logitechs are better for games and the Klipsch are better for old and classical music. I personally dont like creative, I have had them before and I find them to be weak, and they sound like a boombox when you turn them up loud.

For video card, I would say the Raedon 9700 for 350 at newegg. Or a MSI Ti4200 128MB.

And for sound, I have a creative soundblaster audigy gamer and I love it, so if you want to platinum go for it because it is about the same card except you get the breakout box. (I will be getting a platinum version next time I upgrade a soundcard)

Best way to test is in store demos. Best Buy has both the Logitechs and Klipsches on display, test em out, see what ya like.

Dang, i didnt think that this many people would replay, thanks. anyone who has the 560s can you tell me what you like about them, that is what i am thinking of getting. for the vid card any one used the matrox perhilia--i do a ton of graphics work and i think that might be a good card.
