Hi,

Googlegear has the P4 2.26(533), 2.4(533) and 2.4(400) at around $200. Which one of these is the best one to get?

I am going to get a ASUS P4B533-V (or E I'm not sure yet). What memory should I get? I was looking at the Corsair XMS.

Thanks for any input

Id go with the 2.26 for the sure fact of the 133MHz fsb. It will overclock just as high as the 2.4, infact in most cases higher. Also the multiplier on the 2.26 is only 17 the 2.4 is 24, generally the lower the multi the higher you can push the fsb.

Overclocked your looking at the 2.4 at 3Ghz is only at 125MHz fsb

The 2.26 at 3Ghz is at about 176Mhz (I have had mine at stock voltages to 175Mhz)

So in the 2.26 esentially you are getting the same speed, but you are gaining about 50MHz in fsb.

Yea, heres the math...

2.26: 17x177 = 3009mhz (3:4 divider = 236mhz)
2.4b: 18x167 = 3006mhz (3:4 divider = 222mhz)
2.53: 19x158 = 3002mhz (3:4 divider = 211mhz)

So basically if you get a 2.53 and some really good PC3200 ram you might be able to get to 3Ghz and use the 3/4 divider. Otherwise, go with the 2.26 to get the most out of it.
