Flat Panel How To!

Joe Citarella advised me to take a look here, and to post any questions I have.

Problem: Wanting to take a LAPTOP flat panel and hook it up to a geforce2 card using the VGA/SVGA connector.

Question: Can I cut the connector off of a standard VGA/SVGA monitor, and then wire it to the laptop's flat panel screen? OR do I have to get some type a board or adapter to do this?
