when i boot up my computer, it may run various .exe files by itself.

when the computer just sits there, idleing, an .exe file may all of a sudden start running by itself. when i am able to catch these files executing, i hit the ctrl alt delete and do not see them in the process menu.

when one of these .exe files (looks like they are being executed from winnt, or system file sector) executes, they are run under a command prompt, and just sit idleing there.

i want to mention that, i have pc anywhere installed on the machine and have had the entire network ports open behind the router.

i do not have any virus scanner installed on the machine.

my guess;

1) i have a virus, a trojan that came through the opened ports of the firewall.

2) pc anywhere is doing this, and is normal.

just want to note: it has never done this before the pc anywhere installation and before i opened up all the ports in the router.

You only need the pcanywhere port for the router open.. not all of them

If you are running 2k.. use terminal server instead of Pcanywhere

Close your ports and see if it keeps popping up.. or uninstall PCanywhere and see if they still popup

run a virus scan
